Services for Lewis Fredrick Higgins, 76, Lawrence, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Winchester.
Mr. Higgins died Wednesday, May 6, 1998, at Brandon Woods.
He was born July 23, 1921, in Lawrence, the son of Earl Fredrick Higgins and Millie Rose Nickels.
Mr. Higgins worked in the maintenance department at Lawrence Paper Company for many years.
He was a member of North Lawrence Christian Church.
He married Dorothy Ray on April 13, 1941. He married Hannah V. Wright in December 1982. She died in November 1996. He married Shirley A. Martin Higgins on May 10, 1997. She survives of the home.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda K. Welliver, Goff, Millie Rose Hein, Newton; six stepdaughters, Helen Cobb, Thelma Cannon, Patricia Kincheloe, Rebecca Martin, all of Lawrence, Mary Ledbetter, Perry, Ella Mae Emery, Valley Falls; a stepson, Donny Wright, Oskaloosa; a sister, Helen Seifert, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, 18 stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, several stepgreat-grandchildren and a stepgreat-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lewis Fredrick, in January 1971 and a grandson, Samuel Eugene Higgins, in 1984.
