Daughter of Sam Freeborough Fisher (1884-1965) & his 1st wife, Elizabeth Ann Callow (1879-1936). Her father built the Royal Theatre in Eastbourne in 1934. In later years it was among the first New Zealand theatres equipped with Cinemascope (the first was in Te Puke). Saturday night at 'the pictures' was once the culmination of the Kiwi week. Then came television and the appeal of the box proved greater than a seat in the stalls and it closed in Apr 1973.
