She married Lieutenant William Fraser George Servantes (1825-1868) of the 96th Regiment. William was born in Waikawa, Picton. He appears in a newspaper article in an army inspection by the Duke of Cambridge at Sandhurst on 23 May 1841. They had children.
Gazette, 7 Aug 1846 Ensign William Fraser George Servantes, from the 96th Foot to be Lieutenant, without purchase, vice Dowker, appointed Adjutant.
* Lieutenant of the 96th Regiment, who fought against Te Rangihaeata in the Horokiwi Valley in 1846. He was a fluent Maori speaker and sometimes acted as a government interpreter. He lived for some time in a house at the western entrance of Porirua Harbour.
31 Oct 1851 6th Foot, Lieutenant William Fraser George Servantes has been allowed to retire from the Service by the sale of his commission .
* William died 8 Sep 1868 & is buried in Aberdeen cemetery, Hong Kong.

She next married Colonel Henry Stratton Bates (1837-1918). Henry was born in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England. He died there aged 82. They had a son, Henry David Bates (Rawiri Matangi, 1857-1929).
Auckland Star, 26 Oct 1929 . Colonel Bates never forgot the pretty Maori wife of his youthful colonial days. When he died he left his son all his property and made him a very wealthy man. Mr Bates came in for a street of houses in a London residential suburb and large country properties.

Hana next married Te Waaka Houtipu (1822-1882) c1874. There were no children. He died 13 days before her.

Hana is buried next to Chief Manihera Matenga . It has never been confirmed if she was his wife or one of his daughters (some say cousin). Her son, Taare Waitara was the successor of Manihera.

Hana Waitara (?-1882) Hana belonged to the Te Ati Awa. Her father was Waitara Tioro who signed the McCleverity agreement no. 6 at Ngauranga on 4th October 1846. Hana's grandparent Kahukino was Rawiri Matangi's sibling. Hana had three sons, Wiremu Matangi (1851-1900) who died at Parihaka. His wife and children lived at Waikawa in the South Island. Hana's second son was called Taare Waitara (1854-1910) who married Perana Ngaruaki, the only daughter of Te Whiti-o-Romgimai III. They had no children. Hana had a third son who was half brpther to Wiremu and Taare and he was called Henry David Bates (Rawiri Matangi). He was born in January 1957.
In the 1870s Hana married Te Waaka Houpitu but they had no children. Te Waaka died only a fortnight before Hana on the 15th March 1882. He will lhis land interests in Whanganui-Tara to Hana as she had no land of her won. Te Waaka was the brother of Hana Te Awhitu and had a daughter who lived in Taranaki.
Taare Waitara of Charles Waitara, was Hana Waitara's second son. He was a very significant figure in the establishing of a large permanent village at Parihaka. He was known to be very wealthy and used his resources to maintain the village. There is an impressive headstone on Hana's grave at Christ Church Taita and it is adjacent to her cousin Te Manihera Matangi.
There are descendants of both Wiremu and Henry D. Bates living in the Hutt Valley.
Hana died at Taita on 28th March 1882 and was buried at Christ Church, taita.
