Boyd A. Resseguie , 84, of Chiefland, Fla., died Friday evening at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, Gainesville, Fla. His wife is the former Shirley Anne Baker.

Born March 21, 1923, in South Gibson, son of the late Franklin Fitch and Grace Brundage Resseguie, he was a former member of the South Gibson United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Harford High School and also graduated from Farm Auction School in 1952.

He was an auctioneer for 50 years and owned and operated Owego New York Livestock Sales and Central Livestock, Apulia Station, N.Y. Before retirement, he was a real estate broker for a short time. He was a charter member and the first and past vice president of the New York State Horse Pullers Association. A Marine Corps veteran serving in World War II, he was proud that he participated in the re-enactment of the Iwo Jima flag-raising photo.

He was a charter member and third commandant of the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488, charter member and third commander of the Tri-County Detachment 1018, life member of the Marine Corps League, member of the American Legion and past commander of the American Legion in Marathon, N.Y., a 60-year member of the 896 Brother of Tully Mason Lodge, member of the Fraternal Order of the Moose Lodge, Fanning Springs, Fla. and past president of the Tully, N.Y., Chamber of Commerce.

He enjoyed horse-pulling, playing poker and billiards, and reading and collecting Louis L'Amour western books. He was also an avid N.Y. Yankees fan.

Also surviving are seven daughters, Gale Resseguie, Owego, N.Y.; Sandy and husband, Bob Keene, Harford; Judy and husband, Bill Harmer, Clifford; Bonnie Resseguie, Clifford; Cindy and husband, Jim Warren, Lakeside; Vicki and husband, Bruce Somes, Cato, N.Y.; and Shelly and husband, Rick Bagley, Fultonville, N.Y.; a son, Brian Resseguie, Cato, N.Y.; 25 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. from the South Gibson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barbara Doan, pastor, officiating. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment with military honors, South Gibson Cemetery.
