His real name was William Jennings Bryan Beckett, but he later went by the name Jack Clarke, taking the name of the family he lived with, but I don't think he ever changed his name, legally. When he was a child, he was listed as Bryan Beckett on censuses. Was a Judge and Sheriff in Ewing, Kentucky. Husband of Ruth Standiford and father of 3 daughters, including twins.

I have always been told his full name included the name Jennings, but have yet to find anything showing that full name. William Bryan Beckett is documented, and Jack Clarke is the name he chose to use.

The family he sort of adopted as his own was Thomas Benjamin Clarke, wife Julia Morford Clarke, and their son, Champ Clarke. They are all buried in Elizaville Cemetery, in Fleming Co., KY.
