Lula Florence Yates Heaton, born July 6, 1933, entered into her heavenly home, peacefully on February 21, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany, MS, surrounded by the people she dedicated her life to. She was 89 years young, and instilled the love of Christ into everyone she met, without judgement or favorites. Lula was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended for over 60 years. Lula had no greater love than for her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She often enjoyed venturing out with her Senior Citizen group, or patching together quilts and friendships with various quilting groups throughout the years. She loved gardening nearly as much as she loved her family, and was known for her various canning capabilities from tomatoes, to what we lovingly called "Granny Beans." She tempered her strong-willed opinions with love and understanding and would often give advice to her loved ones in the form of Bible verses and a hug.
Lula is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Bob Heaton, and one daughter, Donna Heaton Carr.
She is survived by three sons, Mike Heaton (Sandra), Chris Heaton (Linda), Keith Heaton (Sherri), one son-in-law, Mike Carr; 10 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Harmony Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2023 from 5:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. with funeral services at 2:00p.m. Saturday, February 25 with Bro. Daniel Smith and Bro. Gary Yates officiating. There will be no graveside services. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
