Memorial services for Paul Hensleigh, 85, Winchester, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery in Winchester. Cremation is planned.

Mr. Hensleigh died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at his home in rural Winchester.

He was born Jan. 31, 1913, on the family farm near WInchester, the son of McLeod M. and Ida E. Curry Hensleigh.

He was a 1931 graduate of Winchester High School and received his bachelor of science degree in animal husbandry from Kansas State College in 1938. After his graduation, he worked as a loan officer for the farm security program during the ''dust bowl'' years.

He had lived in Winchester since returning to the family farm in 1943 and managed the farm operations until his death. Mr. Hensleigh was an operator for the Chemical Farm Cooperative Co. in Lawrence from 1956 until he retired in 1978.

He was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Winchester, where he served as chairman of the board of deacons and was Sunday School Superintendent. He was a charter member of the Winchester Lions Club. He was a former member of the Board of Education of Winchester public schools. He was a 4-H leader of the WInchester Opossum 4-H club for more than 25 years. He was a founding member and long-time board member of the Jefferson County Soil Conservation District.

He married Aletha L. Wheeler on Aug. 5, 1936, at Nortonville. She died Aug. 24, 1992.

Survivors include six sons, Richard, Albuquerque, N.M., Paul, Stanford, Calif., Hugh, Minneapolis, Minn., David, Potomac, Ill., Tom, Alma Ata, Kazakhstan, and Robb, Winchester; two daughters, Joye Huston, Winchester, and Jane Reed, Livermore, Calif.; 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
