Anne Patterson Facer died peacefully on January 25, 2023, of natural causes at the age of 93. She was born in Valdosta, GA, on May 16, 1929, and grew up on her family's farm near Adel, GA, a place she enjoyed visiting throughout her life. A dedicated elementary teacher for 36 years, she held a B.S. degree from (then) Valdosta State College and an M.Ed. from Utah State University.

In 2003 she returned to her native South and made her home in Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa, FL. During her 20 years as a resident, she enjoyed multiple friendships and many social affiliations. Two of her most enduring memberships were with the Oak Leaf Book Club and Oak Village Women's Club. Members remember her as intelligent, witty, dependable, and always cheerfully engaged. In all endeavors, she exhibited an unforgettable sparkle which endeared her to friends and acquaintances alike, whether their connection had endured for 70 years or 15 minutes. She had Presence. Staff at Sunflower Springs Assisted Living Facility in Homosassa, where she spent the last five months of her life, enjoyed her warm, lively humor, her social grace, and her dimpled, mischievous smile despite seeing her through her last challenging transition. Throughout her life, she evoked smiles, touched lives, and ­ through example ­ enriched lives.

She is preceded in death by a son, Doug Harris of Westminster, CO, and by her parents, W.C. and Annabel Patterson of Adel, GA, her brothers, Dr. W.C. Patterson of Smyrna, GA, and Eugene Patterson of St. Petersburg, FL.

An interment-of-ashes and Celebration of Life gathering will be held March 12, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., in Salem Cemetery, 107 S. Gordon Ave., Adel, GA, at the Patterson family plot.

Anne requested that, in lieu of Flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice.
