Dr. Michael H. Busch, a former Darien resident, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 15, in New York City. He was 49.

Born on October 13, 1958 in Osnabrueck, Germany, he was the son of Heinz Hermann Busch and Hannerose Groskurt.

He received his master's degrees in Business Administration and Mathematics in 1982 and 1986, respectively, and in 1990 he received his PhD in Economics, from Albertus-Magnus University in Cologne, Germany.

He was a Partner at McKinsey & Company. In 1996, he transferred to McKinsey's Stamford office and moved with his family to Darien. He later went on to be a Partner at Capco, Boston Consulting Group, and Booz Allen Hamilton. Most recently he started his own company, Business Technology Advisors. His expertise was in Information Technology and his greatest pleasure came from achieving the impossible.

Dr. Busch was a brother of the Corps Marcomannia zu Koeln und Aachen Fraternity. His passions included sailing, day trips through Connecticut, and riding his Harley Davidson through his favorite places in Utah. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, charisma, logic, dedication, dance moves, and lust for life.

Dr. Busch is survived by his wife, Renate Kaethe Busch, and his two children, Amelie and Laurenz Busch.

Friends may call from 5 to 8pm on Thursday, February 21, at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am on Friday, February 22, at St. Thomas More Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien. A private burial will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
