Edna N. Newhall, 95, of Danville, Kentucky died February 19, 2023, of natural causes. She was born in February of 1928, and was the last survivor of the eight children of a Vermont farm family. She was born at home during a snowstorm at the Webb Estate which is now Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, Vermont. Her parents were Grace Lillian Bevins and Raymond Jason Newton. Predeceased siblings were Gerald, Eleanor, Wilbur, Janice, Roger, Jean, and Susan.

Edna married David Sowle Newhall in 1952. They were married 53 years before Dr. Newhall's death in 2005. They and their five children moved from Vermont to Danville, Kentucky, in 1966. Edna retired from Citizens National Bank in Danville. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and was a member of The Presbyterian Church (Danville) for over 50 years where she served as a Sunday school teacher and Elder. She worked with the local Danville organization that was the predecessor to the Head Start program. She was actively involved in PTA and DHS Band Parents for many years. She was a Charter Member of the WWII Memorial Monument Fund, a volunteer for the Ephraim McDowell Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of Harvard Dames and the Centre Circle.

Edna is survived by five children, Rebecca Newhall (Bob Martin), Columbia, MD; John Newhall, Connersville, IN; Jesslyn Newhall, Danville, KY; Melissa Newhall (George Yu), Kiawah Island, SC; and David Chester Newhall, Danville, KY. She is also survived by seven grandsons, one great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as two sisters-in-law and a brother in-law.
