Actress. She was best known to television viewers as Fay Furillo on the popular NBC series "Hill Street Blues" from 1981 to 1986. She got her start writing for "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" in the late 1960s. In 1968, she made her acting debut in the film "Bullitt." She went on to appear in such films as "Mame" (1974), "Capricorn One" (1977), "The Last Starfighter" (1984), and "Little Sweetheart" (1989). Besides writing for "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour," her first "small screen" debut came on the show also. Besides "Hill Street Blues," she went on to appear in such series as "Mannix," "Emergency!," "McMillan & Wife," "L.A. Law," "Hooperman," "Cop Rock," and "Murder One." She earned six Emmy Award nominations for her work on both "Hill Street Blues" and "Murder One."
