Jane Ann "Janie" Hoops 73 of New Lexington passed away Tuesday February 14, 2023, at the Genesis Perry County Emergency Department, Somerset.

She was born October 5, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Reba Harrison Switzer.

She was a member of the Nazarene Church; was a Military wife and was a former employee of Southwest Bell and Indiana Bell.

She is survived by her husband John S. Hoops; stepchildren Tim (Laura) Warren and Leslie (Boone) Shelley; brother Stephen E. Switzer; sisters in laws Elaine (Claude) Imler, Mable Whitmer, Donna (Tom) Begley, Nina Hoops, Marilyn Hoops and Mary Ruth Paini; step granddaughter Claire (Jeff) Lloyd; step great grandchildren Grayson and Phoenix, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her stepmother Virginia Switzer; her father and mother-in-law Charles and Ruth Hoops; brother in laws Jim Hoops, Bob Hoops, Bill Hoops, Charles Hoops, and Gene Whitmer; sister in laws Eleanor (Gene) Begley, Norma (Bob) McLean, Marilyn (Gene) Roberts and June Culbertson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday February 19, 2023, at the J. E. Humphrey Funeral Home 118 W. Walnut Street, Shawnee with Rev Cliff Burgess officiating.

Interment: Shawnee Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Alter Care and Genesis Perry Count Emergency Department for their care of Jane.
