ZEBULON – Jerry Mitchell Edwards, 78, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, February 18, 2023. He was born in Columbus County, NC and preceded in death by his parents Atlas "A.J." and Ethel Fipps Edwards.
Jerry was a retired State Trooper for the state of NC. Jerry Bob, which was our nickname for him, had a great sense of humor, personality and was always finding a unique nickname for everyone else. He loved working in the yard and enjoyed sitting outside with family and friends to share a meal that he cooked.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Griswold, his brother, Harold Edwards, granddaughter, Whitney Griswold and grandma "mama", Annie Norris.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandra Alford Edwards and his fur babies Ellie, Lottie and Whitley, which he dearly loved, of the home, his son; Mark Edwards of Zebulon, Jon Edwards (Chasi) of Spring Hope, daughter, Gina Temple (Woody) of Zebulon, son-in-law, Ken Griswold of Zebulon, siblings, Gary Edwards of Zebulon, Mary Kathryn Tripp of Zebulon, 6 grandchildren; Jaxon Edwards, Amber Langston (Matthew), Joshua Temple, Chase Temple, Taylor Griswold and Tanner Griswold (Katie), 2 great grandchildren; Lala Langston and Aubrey Langston and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tender Mercies Pet Organization located at 767 NC-124 W, Macclesfield NC 27852.
Memorial service 2:30 pm, Tuesday, Heritage Baptist Church, 615 Mack-Todd Rd., Zebulon, with visitation from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm, prior to the service.
