Our mother, Reba Grounds on February 17, 2023 went to be with Jesus in her eternal home in Heaven. My father James (Jim) Grounds preceded her in death and 2 Grandsons Shae Gomez and Jimmy Aker. She is now reunited with our dad, two sisters, Jean and Lois and her brother, Don and her parents, Della and Henry Bratcher. There is a celebration in Heaven going on today as I'm sure my mother is at the Lord's table laughing and rejoicing with her family. Our mother resided in Texas the past 12 years, however we chose to bring her home to Oklahoma. Mom survived the Dust Bowl, The Great Depression, my father's motorcycle accident, Polio, a stroke in 1996, and the Global Pandemic.

She is survived by her four children, and their spouses, Jim and Tina Grounds, Debbie Aker, Larry Hopkins, Chris and Jan Gomez and Chuck and Dana Renz. She has 19 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She lived on a 80 acres farm growing up, milking cows, riding horseback, tending the garden and helping her parents on the farm. Those of you who knew and loved my mother would describe her personality as vibrant and energetic, she never met a stranger and loved being surrounded by her friends, and family and people of all races and backgrounds. She always taught us to love everybody and to be thankful to the good Lord in Heaven for all our blessings. Our mother never complained and always told us to think positive. She loved natural remedies, did not like to take medications and would hide it if we tried to give it to her. She was quick to tell us to Go Lick our Calf over if we didn't clean the Kitchen the way she wanted. If she told us to do something and we stood there, she would tell us to quit looking like a Calf looking at a new gate, meaning Get Too It! If we were in trouble she would tell us we needed to write it down in our little Black Book. She loved talking on the phone, and could cook like no other. She put on Dinners at people's homes and sold Salad Master Cookware, worked as a Manager for Kinney's Shoes and was a bookkeeper working for an accounting firm when she met my Dad.

We will celebrate her life on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 1:00p.m. at the Community Fellowship Church at 217 East Main, Ringling, Oklahoma 30 miles west of Ardmore, with her son Rev. Jim Grounds officiating, interment will follow at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma.

There will be a family visitation on Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
