Elizabeth ZITTROUER was born 22 November 1810 to Solomon ZITTROUER & Elizabeth OGELSBY. She was the first wife of the Rev. George L. JACKSON. They married in 1836, and were the parents of eight children, born from 1838 to 1850, four of whom survived to adulthood:
an unnamed infant son,
Josephine Caroline JACKSON 1838-1849,
Capt George Archibald JACKSON 1839-1933, who settled in Berrien County, and is buried in Cook County,
John Robert JACKSON 1841-1849,
• Ann Lavinia JACKSON, born 1843-18??, wife of Dr. Thomas J. WARD of Burke County,
Sarah Melissa JACKSON 1845-1849,
Solomon Z. JACKSON, born about 1847, died 1878 unmarried, and
• Julia Elizabeth JACKSON 1850-1922, the widow of Rev. Edward Alonzo PERKINS of Burke County (she was buried at Millen).

Gravesite Details

The metal frame and bracing were added to reassemble the stone after trampling of the churchyard by Union collected stock and desecration by Union troops in 1865.
