James Michael Brown, age 65 of Brodhead, Ky., passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2023 at Baptist Health Lexington.

Mike was born on September 15, 1957 in Stanford, Ky., a son of the late James Everett "Doc" Brown and Fern Evelyn Abbott Brown. He was well known for his operating S & M Grocery & Restaurant for twenty five years, and Brown Mini Storage. He served his country in the US Army and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Mike found great joy in NASCAR, fishing and playing cards. He was a member of F&AM Masonic Lodge, Shriners and was a Kentucky Colonel.

On March 1, 1980 he was united in marriage to Sue French and they enjoyed forty two years together.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife, Sue Brown; his daughter: Nichole Lakes of Richmond, Ky; grandchildren: Brittany Eads Buckley, Britton and Brayden Eads, Tucker and Kendall Goodson; brother: Lonnie "Buck" Brown of Quail, Ky; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Brown Holt.

Visitation for Mike will be Friday, February 24, 2023 from 5-9PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home .

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Noon, at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Zandell Hasty officiating. Burial will follow in Maret Cemetery.
