Former Alaska resident Fred B. Seltenreich, 79, diedMarch 23 of a heart attack at his home in Portland, Ore. At his request, no service was held. His cremated ashes were spread over the Wrangell Mountains.

Mr. Seltenreich was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Seattle. He married Helen Reick in McGrath. His aviation career began as a young boy in McCarthy. He earned his first pilot's license in 1931 and several others during his lifetime. In 1940, he moved to Fairbanks where he worked for Pan American Airways. He began Seltenreich Aircraft and was a longtime partner with Fairbanks Air Service. In 1956, he and his wife moved to Anchorage where he opened Aero Services on Merrill Field. He was a member of the OX5 Aviation Club, Masonic Lodge York Rite, Al Aska Shrine and Pioneers of Alaska.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; his son, Bill; his daughter, Freda Plancich; his brother, Bud; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren , all of Anchorage. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, Al Aska Shrine Temple, 1730 E. Northern Lights Blvd., Anchorage 99503.
