SON'S OBITUARY:

WHISENHUNT RITES TODAY

Funeral services are set for 2:30 p. m. today in Valliant for Ronnie Whisenhunt, 18, Valliant, killed Thursday when about eight feet of dirt and clay caved in on him while he was working in a deep sewer line trench in Millerton.

Whisenhunt and a crew of workers with the Big Mac Construction Company, contractor for Millerton's first sewer system, were at work in the ditch, about 60 feet from the Burlington-Northern tracks in southwest Millerton when the accident occurred.

Whisenhunt and a fellow worker, Lewis Cline, had left a protective box the crew was working in as it was about quitting time, a few minutes before five, when the walls of the deep trench started caving in. Cline was able to get clear of the falling debris but Whisenhunt could not. Other workers, some still in the box, were unhurt.

Rev. L. B. Flanagan will officiate services at the Valliant Assembly of God Church, with burial in Valliant Cemetery under the direction of Coffey-Ruiz Funeral Home.

Born Aug. 24, 1964, in Hugo, Whisenhunt was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and had lived in Valliant most of his life. He graduated in May, 1982, at Valliant High School, where he was active in football and baseball.

He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Donna Whisenhunt of Valliant, and a sister Kerry, of the home; parental grandmother, Zela Whisenhunt of Wright City and maternal grandparents, Henry and Mildred Graves of Valliant.
