Ronald Dean Horchem, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas. He was born on August 25, 1933 to Orville Mike and Chloe (Scott) Horchem in Great Bend, Kansas.

Ron was raised on the family farm north of Ransom, Kansas. He spent his life farming the land that he so loved. He was the fourth generation of his family to farm this land.

Ronald married the love of his life Dorothy McDaniel, in Dalhart, Texas on July 16, 1952. Dorothy and Ron were blessed with four children, Gary Dean, Debra LoAnn, Mark and Deva Sue. He also had an honorary son, Henrik Frokjaer-Jensen.

Ron spent many years driving an activity bus taking students to ball games. For 50 years he kept the books for basketball games. He spent many active years in 4-H, Lion's Club, Extension Council, and City Council. He volunteered many years for the Ness County Amusement Company. For many years, he bowled in a bowling league until Covid shut down the league two years ago.

Preceding Ron in death were his parents, Orville Mike and Chloe Horchem, his wife, Dorothy Horchem; daughter, Debra LoAnn (Horchem) Smith and her husband, Don.

Surviving Ron is his son, Gary Horchem and his wife, Luann, of Ransom; son, Mark Horchem of Ransom, and daughter, Deva Ingraham and husband, Gordon, of Carlsbad, New Mexico; four granddaughters, Angela Horchem and Matt McKenzie of Tucson, Arizona, Jennifer Costello and Michael of Wichita, Kansas, Amanda Lee and Josh of Lubbock, Texas, Kayla Olmstead and Luke of Cavalier, North Dakota; two grandsons, Jared Horchem and Megan of Ransom, Kansas and Charlie Ingraham of Lubbock, Texas; two great granddaughters, Praylee Horchem and Mercedes Horchem, four great-grandsons. Trigger Horchem, Benjamin Olmstead, Leif Olmstead, and Theodore Olmstead. Also, an honorary son, Henrik Frokjaer-Jensen and his wife Lotte Asminn of Denmark. Nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held at the Ransom Church of Christ on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 6 to 8 PM.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Ransom Church of Christ.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Ransom Church of Christ, Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, or the Ness County Amusement Company.
