Robert Gene Williams, 58, of Daggett, died Thursday, March 1, 2001 in Daggett. Born March 16, 1942, Williams lived in Daggett for 23 years and in Yermo for 36 years. He worked a janitor for Union Pacific Railroad for 20 years. He served in the Army National Guard and was a past member of the Yermo Volunteer Fire Department and the Yermo American Legion. Williams was an avid writer, High Desert historian and published author. The owner of R.G. Research, he was working on a book on the history of Calico, Yermo and Daggett which he planned to publish. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Loy and Hazel Williams; and two brothers, Kenneth and Leroy Williams. Survivors include brother Arthur Williams of Paramount; sister Barbara Stirling of Barstow; and a niece, Barbbette Nelson of Barstow.
