Frank Alonzo Portillo, 73, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001 in Barstow. Portillo was born Oct. 4, 1928 in Barstow. He was a supervisor in the cable fabrication shop at the Marine Corps Logistics Base Yermo Annex for 33 years. He graduated for Barstow Union High School in the class of 1947. He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Portillo served with the U.S. Navy during World War 11. In high school he was very active playing football, basketball and running track. Survivors include his wife, Doris Portillo of Barstow; two sons, Roque Portillo of Auberry and David Portillo of Fresno; a daughter Teresa Stewart of Barstow; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A vigil service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 505 E. Mountain View St. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial is at Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road.
