A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Robert and Lilly Bly McCracken Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Kaiser and Hazel Chapman; and two brothers, Cassius and George Rogers. David retired with 37 years of service in 1986 from American Enka in the research department. He was a patriarch of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee for 50 years and was the oldest living member of the church; he took great pride in taking care of the church. David was an avid gardener.
David is survived by his wife of 72 years, Novella Wood Rogers; daughter, Kristy Ann Rogers; son David Harold Rogers, both of Clyde; three grandchildren, Shawn, Cameron and Brooke Rogers; and one great-grandson, Jack.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Reverend James Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Shawn and Cameron Rogers, Bernie Verse, Faramarz Hidaji, Bob Hawkins and Mark Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Duckett and Bill Bowers.
