Rodney G. Hoeppner, 72, of Bellwood, died May 7, 2015, at David Place, in David City.

Funeral 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Bellwood. Burial in Bellwood Cemetery.

Rodney was born Feb. 22, 1943, the youngest of 14 children, to Louis H. and Mary (Riemer) Hoeppner, in Osmond. He graduated from Osmond High School in 1960, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in July of 1960, where he served for three years. Rodney married Linda Dierksen Nov. 17, 1972 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator most of his life. Rodney also worked on road construction, and in open pit uranium and coal mines in Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Arizona.

He and Linda enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping together. Rodney was a member of the American Legion Post #327, in Bellwood.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Patrick) Osantowski, of Genoa, and Rodney (Kelly) Hoeppner, of Bellwood; six grandchildren, Nick, Angel, Johanna and Jesse Osantowski, Emilia and Jackson Hoeppner; and one great-granddaughter, Blair Osantowski.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda, in 2012; and his brothers and sisters.
