Gloria R. (Ceruti) Dankiw, 75, of Meriden, wife of Stanley Dankiw, passed into the arms of the Lord on Monday morning, (February 5, 2007) at MidState Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Meriden on April 30, 1931, the daughter of the late Carlo and Domenica (Malchiodi) Ceruti, she had resided in Meriden for her entire life and she attended local schools.
Mrs. Dankiw was employed by the City of Meriden Board of Education for some 10 years, and more recently retired from Aetna Insurance, Middletown. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church and was a member of the Gaylord Cancer Survivors Support Group. She lived on her Ceruti family farm on North Broad St. for some 50 years.
Besides her husband, Stanley, she is survived by four daughters, Sharon Durgan and her husband, Toby of Southington; Gail Freeman and her husband, Dale of Cheshire; Carol Monarca and her husband, Ernesto of Middletown; and Diane Ceruti of Meriden; five granddaughters, Jessica Pekoske, Crystal Correa, Lisa Rose Monarca, Angela Cruz-Ceruti, and Sarah Freeman; three great-grandchildren, Luis Calderon, Yamelette Calderon, and Priscilla Rodriquez; also seven stepchildren and stepgrandchildren; one sister, Clara Barillaro of Meriden; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Albert Ceruti of Meriden; and also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Louis Ceruti, formerly of Meriden, and Albert and Francis Ceruti, both of Meriden.
The funeral will be held on Friday, February 9, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 159 West Main St., Meriden, due to renovations at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
