Diane Y. Lane
March 12, 1968 ~ December 19, 2021 (age 53)

Diane Y. Lane, 53, of Crystal Lake passed away peacefully at home with Kim, her loving wife, by her side on December 19, 2021. Diane was born on March 12, 1968 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She was greatly loved by her parents, Paul and Marion Schult, and brother David.

After graduating from Wittenberg University with an education degree, Diane began her career as a secondary physical education and English teacher. She later discovered her passion for nursing. Diane graduated from Regis University in Denver, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Diane worked as a Neurology-Stroke Registered Nurse for 11 years at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, earning the prestigious Advocate Nurse of the Year award and the Daisy award during her tenure. She made many friends during her time there and impacted the lives of so many: by contributing to a cohesive team with her colleagues, treating all with respect and dignity, and caring compassionately and holistically for patients and their families.

It was in her life with Kim and the boys where Diane truly found her purpose. Together, Diane and Kim built a home of love, light, and laughter, where the boys will always flourish. Diane loved being their Mama, instilling the values of hard work and generosity. She could be heard telling them to "work smart, not hard," teaching them to organize and plan one of the many projects that she tirelessly completed for her family and for others. Her loving and positive influence will remain in their hearts and lives forever.

Diane loved the outdoors. She enjoyed hiking, biking, running, and kayaking in Colorado and Canada as well as spending time at the beach with Kim and the boys. Her sons' passions for gardening, sports, and working on home projects are a testament to the memories and bonds that Diane created with them.

Diane will be deeply missed by her loving wife, Kim Arnold; her three cherished sons; her birth mother, Liza Linklater and husband James Trottier; birth father, Stephen Lusted; her brother, David Schult; mother-in-law Annie Arnold, father-in-law Bill (Diane) Arnold, and siblings-in-law Bob Arnold and Kathy (Daniel) White; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marion Schult.

Family will receive friends and relatives of Diane on Wednesday, December 22, from 10 AM – 12 Noon and 4 PM – 9 PM, with a Celebration of Life service at 6 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014.

In lieu of flowers, please consider the needs of the family in this difficult time: memorials for the children's higher education can be directed to the funeral home.
