Daughter of Silas and Sarah [Gallup] Gallup. Wife of Frederick Babcock. Their children were: Oliver and Saphronia

Date of birth comes from the Farrell Family Bible, in the possession of L Farrell and family in Oklahoma [they are descended from Emily Windust, Sophronia's daughter].

"The Babcock Genealogy" by Stephen Babcock (1903), page 155, shows:
"Frederick, son of David and Mary (Hinckley) Babcock (Ezekiel, Robert, John, James 1st), b. Stonington, Conn., June 16, 1782; d. _____; m. Fanny Gallup. Children: Oliver, b. 1804 (?); m. Maria Barton. Sophronia, b. _____."

Also, from "Gallup Genealogy" by Darwin C. Gallup and Josephine Middleton Peck (1966), page 58:
"Fanny Gallup. . .dau of Silas and Sarah (Gallup) Gallup b. Knox, N.Y. Mar 24 1780; m Frederick Babcock. Children (Babcock): Oliver, m Maria Barton. Had (Babcock): Silence, Matilda, Malvina. Sophronia, m John Windust. Had (Windust): Emily, George. Eli G."

From the "Rochester Daily Democrat", Monroe County, New York, Monday, January 18, 1841: "Married. . .in Clarkson. . .also on the 6th inst., by the Elder Hannibal, John Windos [sic], of Sweden [New York], to Sophronia Babcock, of Clarkson."

Sophronia's tombstone is at the Cemetery at Garland on Ridge Road, and records there show she died April 14, 1863, and was the first wife of John Windust [although actually she was his second wife; his first, Mary Hart, died during or shortly after childbirth in 1821].
