Mr. Powell died Friday, July 28, 2000, near Ottawa as the result of a motorcycle accident.
He was born Jan. 23, 1981, in Mountain Home, Ark., the son of John R. and Joy L. (Snowden) Powell. His family returned to the Overbrook area about 1988.
Mr. Powell attended Santa Fe Trail High School near Overbrook and received his GED. He worked as a residential framing carpenter in the Johnson and Miami county areas.
Survivors include his parents, rural Overbrook; one brother, Joshua , Michigan Valley; one sister, Melissa Sueanne Powell, of the home; grandparents, John A. and Donna R. Powell, Vassar, and Jim Snowden, Florida; and a great-grandmother, Evelyn LaRue, Lawrence.
