AFFLERBACH, Barbara Wilson, 91, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Ralph Leon Afflerbach for 55 years.
Born in Crewe, Va., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Mildred Sydnor Wilson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Taylor and Mary Lee Bridgforth.
She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Deborah A. White (Sandy); a son, Robert "Bob" Afflerbach (Regina); four grandchildren, Audrey Afflerbach (Alain Frank), Christopher Afflerbach (Ashley), Jason White (Cindy) and Brandon White (Maryann); four great-grandchildren, Sophie Frank, Lucas White, Ashlyn White and Clara Frank; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved and adored spending time with her family. She was a retired buyer for Belk Store Services in Charlotte, N.C., with 22 years of service. She grew up in Crewe, attending school, church and participating in all aspects of small-town life, making and retaining friends throughout the years. She was dedicated to Quaker Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg for many years.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Crewe Cemetery with a reception to follow at Crewe United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to BCM Families Foundation, P.O. Box 7711, Jupiter, Fla. 33468-7711.
