An early settler, he arrived with his parents in Johnson County Wisconsin/Iowa Territory on April 1, 1839, and settled one mile east of the present site of Tiffin. By 1860 he was residing in Oxford, and probably died there.

He served in the Union Army, First Sergeant, Regiment 14 Iowa Infantry, Company F.
Enlisted 14 Oct 1861, age 29, residence Copi, discharged 28 Jan 1863, St Louis, MO. (Ancestry.com)
