Betsy was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother who lived a life of service and love. She met her future husband, Doug Wirtz while he was serving in the Texas National Guard. They lived in Amarillo, TX, Albuquerque, NM, and Roswell, NM before moving to Guymon, OK in 1965. They were married for 50 years until his passing in 2001. Together, they raised two children, Kim Bloss of Denver, Colorado, and Larry Wirtz of Guymon, Oklahoma.
She attended school in Waco and graduated from Waco Business School, She was a dedicated professional who started her career as a bookkeeper for Borden Dairy in Amarillo, Texas. She later became Secretary and Treasurer of Wirtz Lumber and Supply in Guymon, Oklahoma, and eventually rose to become President of the company.
In her free time, Betsy enjoyed painting, reading, traveling, visiting her grandchildren, and spending time at her vacation cabin in Colorado.
Betsy was a dedicated member of her community and volunteered her time with Girls Scouts of America and Explorer Scouts. She was a past board member of Memorial Hospital of Texas County and a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Guymon, Oklahoma, where she and her husband served as past youth sponsors.
Betsy is survived by her children, Kim Bloss and her husband Mike of Denver, Colorado, and Larry Wirtz and his wife Shelley of Guymon, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Natalie "Bloss" Bray and her husband Zach and Cassie "Bloss" Beyer and her husband Ryan of Fort Worth, TX, and Molly Wirtz of Denver, CO, Clara Wirtz and Christopher Wirtz of Guymon, OK. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Barrett Bray, Sloane Bray, Skylar Beyer, and Maisie Beyer all who reside in Fort Worth, Texas. They will always remember her for her love, kindness, and unwavering support.
Betsy will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and love for her family. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
