Nancy Lee Banta, 69, of Salmon, passed away 15 October 2004 at her home after a courageous battle with kidney disease. She was born 30 August 1935, in Kansas City, Kansas to Ray and Helen Appleton. Nancy moved to Idaho as a young girl where she spent the remainder of her life. 9 December 1950, Nancy married Frederick Russell Banta in Salmon, Idaho. Together they raised five children, living and working in and around the Lemhi Valley most of their lives. They also resided in Boise in the 1970's for four years where they owned and operated the Sunliner Motel. Nancy was a wonderful cook and enjoyed canning very much. She was an avid gardener and had many beautiful house plants. She enjoyed ceramics, crossword puzzles and coffee visits with her dear neighbors, Pat and Buster LaMoure. Nancy is survived by Russ, her husband of 54 years; sons, Curtis, Russell and Alan Banta; daughters, Judy Larson and Shelly Buhler; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a brother, Richard Maydole. She was preeded in death by her mother and stepfather, Helen & Ray Appleton. Services were held 23 October 2004 at the Salmon River Funeral Chapel.
