Irene Judson born perhaps c. 1778 married 1 January 1798 (Presbyterian Church, Greenville, New York) Bardsley Roots, both of Newry, (she called Rhena in marriage record) son of Adonijah Root. "Barzellai and Adonijah Roots" appear together on the 1799 assessment list of Coxsackie, Greene County, New York with real estate valued at $266 and personal estate of $56 for a tax of $.32. "Bardsly" Roots appears on the 1800 assessment list compiled June 1800 with house and land, land valued at $326 and a personal estate of $97 for a state tax of $.42 and county tax of $.26. Enumerated in Coxsackie, Greene County, New York in 1800 with one male under age ten (b. 1791-1800), one male of age ten and under age sixteen (b. 1785-90), one male of age twenty six and under age forty five (b. 1756-74), and one female of age twenty six and under age forty five (b. 1756-74). "Bardsly" Roots appears on the 1801 assessment list of Coxsackie with real estate valued at $266 and a personal estate of $80 for a tax of $.87. "Begley" Roots appears on the 1802 assessment list with real estate at $266 and no personal estate for a tax of $.53. "Bardsley" Roots appears on the 1803 assessment list of the newly created Greenville with real estate valued at $400 and no personal estate for a tax of $1.17. Enumerated in Greenville, Greene County in 1810 with three males under age ten (b. 1801-10), one male of age sixteen and under age twenty six (b. 1785-94), one female of age ten and under age sixteen (b. 1795-1800), and one female of age sixteen and under age twenty six (b. 1785-94). Rhena was baptized 2 September 1810, Presbyterian Church, Greenville, New York and her sister Alethia the same day. Bardlsey and Rhena were admitted as members into the church the same day of her baptism, 2 September 1810. They were dismissed from the church 1 December 1811 when they probably removed from the area. Bardsley, Irene, and one of their children are related to have died 1813 or 1815 during an epidemic in Tioga County, New York (perhaps that portion that became Chemung County, New York, her father and family living only about a mile from the state line. The date of 1813 may be the correct date as the bilious fever epidemic of that year seems to have been quite prevalent and is noted in newspapers such as the Luzerne County Gleaner of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and noted in medical publications of the time.

Asa Roots baptized 2 September 1810, called adopted son of Barsley and Irene, Presbyterian Church, Greenville, New York. He was the son of Barsley's brother Adonijah Roots and Anna Cowell, both of whom died in Aug 1806. Asa was raised by Barsley and Irene until their early deaths. Asa was born March 1806 and m. Margaret Dearborn and they removed to Missouri.
