LIBERAL, MO. — Raynard Eugene Edwards Sr., 78, of Liberal, Missouri, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law at Liberal, Missouri.

He was born September 14, 1929 at Mindenmines, Missouri the son of Earl and Mary (Avery) Edwards.

He was raised in Mindenmines and attended Mindenmines schools.

He married Mary Jane Griffitt on November 17, 1956 at Mindenmines, Missouri. She preceded him in death September 13, 2007.

He was a retired truck driver. He worked many years for McNally's, Dickey Clay, and was truck driver for WSKT in Parsons. He then worked part-time for Costal Mart and Tyrell's until retiring.

He was a member of the Lighthouse of Worship Church in Liberal, Missouri, and an ordained minister and deacon in the Church of God of Prophecy Church in Pittsburg, KS.

Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Beard and husband David of Liberal, MO, and Nancy Charles and husband Kenny of Pittsburg, KS; one son, Ray Edwards Jr. and wife Aline of Branson, MO; three sisters, Dolores Edwards and Shirley Majors both of Pittsburg, KS, and Virginia Roberts of Franklin, KS; one brother, Billy Edwards of Pittsburg, KS; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Edwards and Wilma Collins.

Funeral services will be February 29, 2008 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas, with the Rev. David Beard and the Rev. Dale Carter officiating. Burial will be at the Frontenac City Cemetery in Frontenac, Kansas.
