Kathleen Mary Fulham Hensley, 85, of Charlestown, IN died peacefully at Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg on February 8, 2023. She was born in Suffolk, England on December 12, 1937 to Catherine E. Fulham.

Kathleen recalled having to go down into the air raid shelters, at the age of three or four years old during "the Blitz", the German bombing campaign against the United Kingdom during World War II. As a young beautiful woman, Kathleen was a librarian at RAF Mildenhall, where she met her American husband-to-be, Hearl Hensley, who was enlisted in the United States Air Force. They were married in England on July 2, 1960 and Kathleen emigrated to America, traveling alone on the famous ocean liner SS United States, to set-up home in Charlestown.

Kathleen worked for many years at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville as an Obstetric Registered Nurse, having put herself through nursing school while raising her sons and working full-time. Many local people recall the kindness Kathleen showed to them while giving birth at the hospital.

Kathleen was a longtime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, where she received much loving kindness over the years, and participated in many church activities.
While at Maple Manor Christian Home, Kathleen received loving care from Jamie Roberts, whose kindness will be forever appreciated.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Hearl, son David, mother Catherine, and brothers Brendan and Kevin.

Kathleen is survived by her sons, Kevin (Julie), Michael (Lynn), Paul, and Bryan (Trish), as well as 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown on Monday, February 13, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, February 14 starting at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be performed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Charlestown on Tuesday, February 14 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at St. Michael's Parish Cemetery.
