Epkie Gruben

Rotan - Epkie Gruben, 88, of Brownfield, a former Fisher County farmer, died Wednesday at a Brownfield nursing home.

Services were to be at 3 p.m. Friday at Weathersbee Funeral Home. The Rev. Darrell Brown, of Hamlin Assembly of God Church, was to officiate, with burial in Roby Cemetery.

Born January 3, 1894 in Fisher County, he married Minnie Etta Parker, who died March 24, 1933. He married Minnie McKinney on July 3, 1942 in Roby.

He farmed near Royston until retiring in 1977 and moving to Brownfield. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, William B. and Claude Ray, both of Brownfield; two daughters, Ruth Couch of Abilene and Lois Jenkins of Fort Towson, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Dixie Collum of Brownfield; two sisters, Hannah Daniels of San Antonio and Lettie Brumfield of Odessa; 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
