Hugh Aubra Coonfield was born on May 19, 1943 in Arnett, Oklahoma to Aubra Hugh and Florence Mae (Fields) Coonfield. Hugh grew up in Shattuck, Oklahoma and attended the Bishop School until the 3rd grade and attended Shattuck Public Schools from 3rd grade until the 12th grade. He graduated from Shattuck High School with the class of 1962. Hugh was united in marriage to Viola Pauline Porter on June 26, 1964 at the First Baptist Church in Woodward, Oklahoma. The young couple made their home in Shattuck the first year of marriage before moving to Woodward. They were blessed with two children, Teresa and Tracy.
Hugh worked for the Ellis County Building Supply in Shattuck and then worked for Goins Home Furnishing and various construction jobs before going to work for Northwest Electric Cooperative in 1985 He continued working there until his retirement in 2013. After retirement he enjoyed attending/driving the bus at the Woodward Senior Center.
He enjoyed camping with family and friends and doing woodwork. Hugh had a servants heart and loved spending time with his family. He was an active member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. He volunteered regularly with the JOY and TEAM KID ministries.
Hugh is survived by one son, Tracy Hugh Coonfield of Olathe, Kansas; one daughter Teresa Renee Wales and husband Jeff of Woodward; three grandchildren: Kourtney Weese and Kory, Jonathan Wales, Haiden Coonfield; two great-grandchildren: Kamber Brechlin and Jax Weese; one brother Everett Coonfield and wife Eileen; one sister Eva Mae Morgan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eugene and Janis Porter; a special friend, Donna Ball; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pauline Coonfield, sister Lillie Ann Fessler and brother Ernie De Coonfield.
