Tribute
Deborah J. Nelsen, 65 of Meridian died January 7, 2021. Cremation is under the direction of Cremation Society of Idaho.

Deborah Jaye Nelsen, born November 23, 1955, died of cancer on January 7, 2021 with her loved ones at her side. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dave Nelsen; her children, Andrew Nelsen; Holly Gamboa (Roman), and four beloved grandchildren. In addition to her beloved family, Deb also leaves behind her treasured friend and soul sister, Marilyn Neville, provided support and care not only to Deb, but to Deb's family. Deb is also survived by numerous friends and a large extended Nelsen family. She will be missed by all.

Deb was a straight shooter. She was honest in all her dealings. If you asked her opinion, you got it, gently, but straight. Deb was wise, especially about people and relationships. She was a skilled counselor and helped many people, both in her role as a clinical social worker and in her dealings with family and friends. She asked really good questions, questions that caused people to see their world through a different lens.

Deb, more than most, had a spontaneous streak, a zest for life, for fun, for adventure. She loved the ocean and the beaches of California and Oregon. She loved to fish, to camp in her RV, to travel and see the country. She loved to play with her grandchildren, to paint, to create wonderlands.

Deb was an introvert, but she had deep friendships and was extremely loyal to people she loved. She was the type of person who inspired fierce devotion from her family and friends, which is perhaps the best measure of her own character.

Deb was a member of Meridian Friends Church and loved the Lord. She looked forward to heaven, and plans to send dragonflies to comfort us if she can.

Have fun in heaven, Deb. We love and miss you here, but we'll see you later.
