Dorothy Marie Moore of Lebanon died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 4:45 a.m. She was born May 1, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to Dominick and Marie Staszak.

Moore was a retired registered nurse and worked at Witham Memorial Hospital and Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon. She worked as a surgical nurse at Mercy Hospital and Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. She traveled as a courier nurse on the Santa Fe Railway and appeared in "Look" magazine in a feature article about her travels. Moore attended Loyola University in Chicago and graduated with her nursing certification from St. Bernard's Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago.

Moore was known for her great love of family, her sociable nature, strong resilience and caring for others. She was married to Leonard. E. Moore for 46 years. She was crowned Valentine Queen at the Hearth at Windermere, where she recently resided.

Moore is survived by children Brian Moore of Indianapolis; Laura Heinitz of Temecula, California; and Lynda de Widt of Fishers, Indiana. Grandchildren include Clayton and Luke Moore of Indianapolis and Victoria and Valerie Heinitz of Temecula, California.

Services were entrusted to Myers Mortuary of Lebanon, Indiana.
