In 1962, she met the love of her life at the skating rink in Clarendon and she married Mervel "Skip" Ward on January 5, 1963. The couple enjoyed 57 years of married life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to many during her lifetime. One of the things she was most known for was her friendly smile to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six of her brothers - William "Billy" Thomas Lacy, Jacob Harrison Lacy, John David Lacy, George Leon Lacy, James "Jimmie" Fredric Lacy, and Harold Allen Lacy; her four sisters - Elizabeth Jane Almond, Dorothy Francis Traylor, Wyona Belle Johnson, and Margaret "Marge" Joy Broughton; and two of her grandchildren - Nikki Helms-Schwab and Danielle Nicole White.
She is survived by her husband; her children, LeeAnn Ward-Morgan, Mervel Alan (Donna-deceased) Ward, Jr., and Denise Ward-Henley. She adored her grandchildren, Kelli Michelle (Robert) Martin, Spencer Alan (Jessica) White, and Candace Brooke (Blake) Brents; and her six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Jesse Robert Lacy of Missouri.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends while bowling, camping, fishing, hunting, and traveling, especially to the Ozark mountain area. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Stuttgart.
The family wishes to thank all medical personnel involved in her care during her final phase of life.
She was cremated, and per her final wishes, there will not be a memorial service.
