Clyde Barnett
Clyde H. "Tex" Barnett, 86, of Barstow, died of natural causes Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville. Born Dec. 10, 1914 in Smiley, Texas, Barnett came to California when he was 23 and lived in Barstow for 47 years. He was an owner of Desert Auto Parts in Barstow for 10 years before retirement. Barnett was a former president of the Barstow Bowling Association and enjoyed pinochle as a pastime. He can be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, with a spirit of gentleness and kindness to many. Survivors include his wife, Harriette H. Barnett of Barstow; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Barbara Barnett of Barstow; a daughter and son-in-law, Vonda and David Mathews of Apple Valley; a brother, Vaughn Barnett of Texarkana, Texas; grandson Michael Mathews of San Francisco, granddaughter Monica Klein of Barstow, grandson James Barnett of Richland, grandson Jeffery Barnett of Apple Valley, granddaughter Tamara Barnett of Apple Valley, and grandson Marshall Mathews of Las Vegas, Nev.; and six great-grandchildren.
