Bill was born on July 28, 1935 in Galesburg to Jess and Frances (Salmonas) Fought. He moved with his family to Watsonville, CA where he attended schools. Later he moved to Morehead, KS and then to the Dennis area. Bill had worked for Cessna Aircraft, Commercial Publishers and Vallis Printing before retiring in 2004.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering in his garage. He and his son, Brad, built a hot rod tractor together.
Bill and Shirley Clary were married on July 25, 1969 in Parsons. She preceded him in death on August 16, 2021.
Survivors include, three sons, Brad Fought (Gina) of Dennis, Michael Fought (Adele) of Jefferson City, KS, David Engroff (Sara) of Greenfield, MO; four daughters, Rebecca Marchant (Mike) Of Cherryvale, LeAnn Manley of Mound Valley, Jennifer Fought of Cherryvale and Paula Ramirez (Dan) of Parsons; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leona McCreary of Cherryvale.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Raida and a brother, George Fought.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2023 at Dennis United Methodist Church in Dennis. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Dennis United Methodist Church and may be left at or mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
