Vera was born in Delia, Texas, to the late Charles "Charlie" Vernon and Marina "Minnie" Ella (Farmer) Shilling. She owned Vera's Cafe from 1959 to 1967, and was a past employee of Clifton Manufacturing and Hawk and Buck Tent Manufacturing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon "Tex" Griffin; twin sons, Royce Dean and Troyce Gene Jones; twin sisters, Bessie Farmer and Lessie Shilling Keel; brothers, Willie Shilling, Denmon Schilling and Pat Shilling; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include grandchildren, Ronald "Butch" Jones, Darrell Jones, Deanna Harris, Diane Moore and Billy Jones; many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
