Vera L. Griffin, 94, of Bellmead, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 29, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Dwayne Roberson officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, at Bellmead Funeral Home.
Vera was born in Delia, Texas, to the late Charles "Charlie" Vernon and Marina "Minnie" Ella (Farmer) Shilling. She owned Vera's Cafe from 1959 to 1967, and was a past employee of Clifton Manufacturing and Hawk and Buck Tent Manufacturing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon "Tex" Griffin; twin sons, Royce Dean and Troyce Gene Jones; twin sisters, Bessie Farmer and Lessie Shilling Keel; brothers, Willie Shilling, Denmon Schilling and Pat Shilling; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include grandchildren, Ronald "Butch" Jones, Darrell Jones, Deanna Harris, Diane Moore and Billy Jones; many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
