Andrew "Andy" Jackson Wise/Wyse was born in Aug 1848 or Aug 1850 in Cocke Co., Tennessee to Jonathan "John" Wise and Elizabeth "Betsy" (Jones) Wise.
Andrew had the following siblings born of this union:
Sarah "Sallie" Wise,
Charles Howard Wise,
Rachel Wise,
Calvin Wayne or Callaway Wise and
Susan "Susie" Wise.

Andrew fought in the Civil War. Family lore says that he lied about his age to join. This is probably where the Aug 1848 year comes into record. His parents are listed on the U. S. Census 1850 by themselves with no children. He would have been born that August.

Andrew was of Baptist faith and at some point in the next few years became known as "Preacher Wise/Wyse.
On 24 Apr 1874 in Haywood Co., Tennessee he married his first wife, Nancy Stricklin.
They had the following children:
Sarah Wise and
Ollie "Dove" Wise.

In 1900 we find Nancy had died and Andrew moved to Greene Co., Arkansas with his daughter Dove was still living at home with him.
In 1900 he married Docia (Stricklin) Sanders in Craighead Co., Arkansas.
He had the following step-children from this union:
John (Jack) Robert Hamilton Sanders, Sr.,
James Thomas Monroe Sanders,
Levi "Lee" C. Sanders,
Elijah "Lige" Benjamin Sanders,
Louis S. Sanders,
Mary Frances Sanders and
Sallie Bell Sanders.

It is in 1900 that we begin to see the last name spelled "Wyse" instead of "Wise" on some of the legal documents.

Docia died sometime in 1913. Family lore says that they believe she died on a trip to Oklahoma, others say she died when they returned, but as of 2013 no one knows where she is buried.

On 12 Jul 1913 Andrew married a took a third wife, Sallie Bell Sanders, (youngest daughter of Hamilton Jackson Sanders and Docia Miranda (Stricklin) Sanders Wyse).
They had the following children:
Doshey Annie Pocahontas "Pokie" Wyse,
Grace Geneva Wyse and
Wilma Lee Wyse.

They lived in Poinsett Co., Arkansas.
Andrew was a farmer and a preacher. He performed many marriages in Poinsett and Craighead Counties in Arkansas.
Andrew was preceeded in death by his parents and all of his siblings, two brothers, Howard and Calvin Wayne (Calloway)Wise of Tennessee and three sisters, Sarah, Rachael and Susan Wise of Tennessee.
He was also preceeded in death by his first wife, Nancy and second wife, Docia.

"Grandpa Wyse was interviewed by someone that took part in the collection of data known as the Guion Miller Rolls around 1908.
In those papers he states that he had three grandparents that were full blooded Cherokee and one grandparent that was Dutch." - (source - Kathie Medlock Wheeless)
