Funeral services for Dr. Anna Connell, 83, of Temple will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Mr. Wayne McKamie officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park.
Dr. Connell died on September 30, 2007. She was born in Temple to John Burris Lasater and Rosa Mae Atkisson Lasater. She was a 1941 graduate of Temple High School. She married Billy Connell on October 11, 1947. After starting a family she graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 1966 and then earned her PhD in Education from Baylor University in 1978. Dr. Connell taught elementary school at Temple ISD. After receiving her PhD she became an Elementary Math consultant and later Principal at Peebles Elementary School in Killeen ISD. Dr. Connell was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Connell, two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Karen Connell of Temple, a daughter, Melissa Connell of Temple and a sister, Alice Welch of Austin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 3 from 5:00 – 7:30 PM at Scanio-Harper.
