Mrs. Thressel Irene Owens age 102, of Mt.Vernon passed away on Monday January 9, 2023 at Rockcastle Rehabilitation Center in Brodhead. She was born on May 25, 1920 in Plato, KY the daughter of the late Walter Elmer and Anna Brown Broyles. She was a homemaker, enjoyed flowers, gardening, piecing & quilting, taking care of her cats, and was a faithful member of the Fairview Church of Christ for over 70 years.
Survivors are: one daughter; Mrs. Mava June Stamper of Mt.Vernon. One brother; Sherwin Broyles of Plato, KY. One sister; Mrs. Marie Broyles Frazier and (Lowell). One grandchild; Shawn Stamper of Richmond. 10 nieces, and 6 nephews also survive. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by; her husband of 73 years; Henry Owens, by two infant sons; Arlin Henry, and Lynn Delwin Owens, by two brothers;Vola "Pete" Broyles, and Blake Broyles, and by two sisters; Verla Burns, and Vula Presley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thressel Irene Owens will be conducted 2 PM Saturday January 14, 2023 at the Fairview Church of Christ with Bro. Curt Herrington officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Cox Funeral Home where friends may visit from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, and after 1PM at the church on Saturday.
