David was born in May of 1945 in Niskayuna, NY, to the late Fredrick W. Dykeman Sr. and Margeret Beretz Dykeman. Dave spent his career driving for a living, first for Bellevue Builders and then later for General Drywall and Duanesburg Oil, until he found his calling as a School Bus Driver for 27 years at Duanesburg Central School. All his "kids" loved him, and he will be fondly remembered as Big Bird or just Bird by his coworkers.
Having grown up on the family farm, he spent his retirement years caring for his container gardens, mom's flowers, and all the wild creatures that stopped by.
Dave was predeceased by the love of his life Gail Dykeman to whom he had been married for 49 years and raised three children Timothy (Petra), Tammy (Gerard), and Rebecca. He had two grandchildren, Tara (Gabriel) and Sophia, and two great-grandchildren, Georgio and Amilea. He also leaves behind a brother, Terry (Collen), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Fred Dykeman Jr. & John Dykeman, along with a sister Julia DeBraccio.
