Born-1764, Wallkill, N. Y.
Parke County
Service-While residing in Wallkill, N. Y., he volunteered Oct., 1777, and served 1 mo.; the next year he served 2 mos.; in 1779. he served 3 mos. ; all of his service was rendered as a pri. in Capt. Samuel Watkin’s CO., Cal. Moses Phillip’s N. Y. Regt., and he was out against the Indians, who were burning towns and committing depredations against the inhabitants.

Proof-Pension claim S. 32536.
Died-Aug. 6, 1841. Buried on farm owned by Mrs. Essie Strong, Florida Twp. Stone.
Married-Abagail Horton, d. 1842.

The following was sent to us from Putmont @ [email protected] - he is their 4th generation grandson.

Daniel was 12 years old when he entered the Revolution. He was too young to carry a musket, so he was made a wagonboy for Horatio Gates.

Daniel and Abigail were one of the three familys that were the first civilians to move to Harrison, along with the Markle and Richardson familys. Thus, they are pioneer settlers of Vigo County. See History of Vigo County. In 1816, Daniel was appointed the first Superintendent of Otter Creek Township.
