Ardis Schloer
February 24, 1927 — July 21, 2022
Ardis Adams Schloer was born February 24, 1927 in southeastern Utah in the small community of Blanding south of Moab, the third of six children of (John) Ernest Adams and (Erma) Garda Gee. She enjoyed many activities growing up there, including being the drum majorette/baton twirler at her San Juan High School band, as well as having the lead in the Senior Class Play, Ramona.
When her parents divorced, she moved back to the hometown of Provo, Utah.
Ardis attended Brigham Young University and later the University of Utah where she met athlete, Eric George Schloer, who later became her husband. She majored in Modern Dance, which was one of the main reasons for the transfer due to the appeal of that department being of such excellent quality in the school up north.
Ardis and Eric had six children, three girls and three boys. Kathryn a.k.a. Kate Ann (Steve) Andersen, Eric G. Schloer Jr (Lynette), Karen Lee (Rob) Fishback, Jonathan Adams Schloer (Alicia), David Hartman Schloer (Diana) and Kay Lynn (Greg) Kitchens.
Through Eric Sr's career as a U.S.Navy pilot over 30 years, Ardis found herself being transferred with her growing family to six states. From Utah to Calif, then Florida, on to Virginia, New Jersey and Texas before heading back to Calif then being offered a much sought after transfer to Oahu in Hawaii where the family enjoyed some of their most wonderful times together.
She was an amazing overtime mother, giving so much love, understanding and attention to each of her children and a devoted wife to her husband. She continued loving nature and service after her children were out on their own with volunteer work at hospitals and her social contacts with many dear friends.
Ardis lost her husband in 1973 to a much unexpected heart attack and never remarried. She lived out the rest of her days in the bay area of Calif until 2015 when she moved into an assisted living center at the Charleston in Cedar Hills, UT close by her family living in that area. She passed peacefully with several family visits and with her son, Eric, by her side.
She is survived by sons Eric and Jon, and daughters Karen and Kay Lynn, and one sister Garda Nielson of Blanding. Also 15 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren.
