Byron Junius Gibbs, 67, a doctor of philosophy and teacher at Maricopa Technical College and Phoenix College, died Dec. 13, 1986, at John C. Lincoln Hospital and Health Center. Mr. Gibbs, of Phoenix, was born in Watertown, S.D., and moved to Arizona 27 years ago from St. Paul, Minn. He was a World War II Army Air Forces veteran; a graduate of the College of St. Thomas, receiving a doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota; and a volunteer for Madison Elemental School. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn; daughter, Kristina; sons, Byron Philip, Dr. Stephen, Dr. James and Dr. Eugene; two sisters; a brother; and eight grandchildren. Private arrangements were made by Greer Chapel & Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Desert Mission of Sunnyslope, 9 E.
