Raymond Edward Gillett, 80 of Lockwood passed away on January 18, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.

Raymond was born in Paso Robles, Calif., November 19, 1942. He just celebrated his 80th birthday on November 19th. He was the son of Walter and Rachel - Dayton- Gillett. Raymond was raised with his brother Dick Gillett and sister Janice - Gillett- Grim. He spent a lot of time with good friend Paul Martinus, riding all over Lockwood on their bicycles.

He attended grammar school at the Old School, currently Lockwood Community center then King City High School. He played football and competed in Track and field. At one time had a record in the 100 high hurdles. After high school, Ray briefly attended Hartnell Junior College.

He worked for Cal Fire before enlisting to the US Navy until Honorably Discharged on May 20th 1970. He went to work for Monterey County Parks Department as a Mechanic. Retired after 30 years at San Antonio Lake.

Ray enjoyed attending local organizations like Nacitone and Silver Kings and Queens. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, especially at Plaskett creek on the coast. He enjoyed going to the cabin at the Indians with family and friends. He made several horseback trips into Lost Valley, Death Valley, Idaho and Montana with his wife and family.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 50 years; Beverly - Lombardi- Gillett; 2 Children; Russell (Hope) Gillett and Lesley Gillett; 2 Grandchildren and step grandchild ; Russell Gillett Jr.,Colton Ambrose and Christian Barnes. He is also survived by his sister Janice Grim, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Eddington Funeral Services Chapel from 5pm to 8pm.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Gillett Cemetery on Jolon Road in Lockwood, CA.

A Celebration of life following service at 51380 Bradley Lockwood Rd.
